The 10th passenger ferry, named M/F Sait Altınordu, constructed by Özata Shipyard for the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, has been delivered.

Özata Shipyard in Yalova delivered the passenger ferry named M/F Sait Altınordu, the 10th of the 15 vessels ordered by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality for intra-city sea transportation.

The passenger vessel, named ‘Sait Altınordu,’ will be used for sea transportation in Izmir Gulf. Özata Shipyard had previously delivered passenger vessels named Çakabey, 9 Eylül, 1881 Atatürk, Soma 301, Dario Moreno, Attila İlhan, Foça, Cengiz Kocatoros, and Gürsel Aksel to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.

The ferry, produced from ‘carbon composite’ material, which is more durable than steel, lighter than aluminum, and has a longer lifespan with lower operating costs, will operate in Izmir Gulf.

Fast and comfortable

The ferries will make passenger transport in the gulf faster at a speed of 18 knots per hour and have a capacity for 420 passengers. The vessel, offering various comforts from wireless internet to TV broadcasts, has special arrangements for people with disabilities. Tactile warning and directional signs for the visually impaired are available in necessary areas, and there are designated areas for the vehicles of physically disabled individuals. To promote urban bicycle use, the vessel also features a bicycle parking area.

The vessel also includes independent pet cages for passengers to transport their pets. The new ferry is expected to go into service in Izmir Gulf.
