The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, expanding its inner gulf routes with new vessels, is now extending its services to the outer gulf. The first voyage will take place to Foça on Saturday.

The Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, making significant strides in maritime transportation with its fleet of state-of-the-art vessels, is now venturing into the outer gulf. The inaugural journey is set to take place on Saturday, August 1st, to Foça, one of the city’s prominent tourist destinations. Residents of Foça, along with Foça Mayor Gökhan Demirağ, enthusiastically greeted the vessel crew at the dock, expressing their great joy.

Foça, a City of Mariners

We have always believed that service to our district should have a different perspective. Foça is a city of mariners. In this regard, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, along with its investments, has raised the bar to an incredible level.”

Foça Municipal Council Member Zeynep Çemrek also thanked Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu, saying, “Izmir Metropolitan Municipality has provided a great service to Foça, and we are satisfied. Having this travel opportunity will be very beneficial for the people of Foça.”

The trips will take place at 08:00 and 18:00 with the route Karşıyaka-Konak-Foça. Departures from Foça will be at 10:05 and 20:05.

Services to Four More Districts

Following Foça, the Metropolitan Municipality is also working on providing sea transportation to Mordoğan, Urla, Güzelbahçe, and Karaburun. The construction tender for the Mordoğan Pier has been held, and the process is ongoing. Tender works for pier construction is also underway for other districts.

The fees for the Foça-Karşıyaka trips, which Izmir Metropolitan Municipality will start on the coming Saturday, are set at full fare 10 TL, student 6 TL, and teacher 8 TL. Izmir residents will use the “İzmirim” card for Foça trips as well. The validators at the turnstiles will deduct the specified fees for the journey to Foça from the “İzmirim” card.

6 out of 15 Vessels Have Arrived

A total of 15 vessels ordered by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality from Özata Shipyard in Yalova to enhance maritime transportation are currently in production. So far, six vessels have arrived in Izmir and have been put into service. The last two of these vessels will be equipped to perform outer gulf routes and will be made of ‘carbon composite’ material, which is sturdier than steel, lighter than aluminum, and has a longer lifespan with lower operating costs.
