The 13th catamaran-type ferry, constructed at Özata Shipyard using carbon composite materials to meet the needs of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, was launched into the sea.

Built at Özata Shipyard to cater to the needs of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, the 13th catamaran-type ferry with a carbon composite body, aiming for fast and comfortable passenger transportation in Izmir Gulf, has launched into the sea over the weekend.

THE FIRST FERRY WAS LAUNCHED ON DECEMBER 26, 2013

The first of the 15 catamaran-type passenger vessels with carbon composite bodies that Izmir Metropolitan Municipality would use for gulf transportation has launched on December 21, 2013, at Özata Shipyard in Yalova.

Following the completion of the tender process, construction of the catamaran-type passenger vessels with carbon composite bodies began at Özata Shipyard in Yalova in June 2013. The vessels are 39 meters long, 11.6 meters wide, have a capacity of 420+6 passengers, and can reach a speed of 18 knots. The last two vessels under construction will operate at a service speed of 30 knots. Due to the materials used, these vessels are considered more durable and fuel-efficient, thanks to their lightweight nature and they named environmentally friendly.
